Alan Schulman is a Professor of Plant Biotechnology. He directs research groups at Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) and in the Institute of Biotechnology of the University of Helsinki. He holds a B.A. from Duke University and M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University. In his research, which spans 35 years, he applies genetics, genomics and cell biology to understand the processes of genome dynamics over time, and develops tools and know-how for plant breeding. He has published 138 scientific papers, books, and book chapters.
