Born in Argentina, Rabbi Carlos Tapiero is the Deputy- Director General & Director of Education of Maccabi World Union. For more than a dozen years he served as Community Director & Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Guatemala. His general & specific Jewish education was gained in Israel, Argentina, Guatemala and the USA, with a BA & MA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Bible, General Philosophy & Contemporary Jewry (specialized in Jewish Education & Holocaust Studies) and his smicha as a Rabbi was awarded by the Schechter Institute of Jerusalem. He completed the highly prestigious Jerusalem Fellows Program. He lectures on numerous topics, teaching in the USA, Europe, Latin America & Israel, and his experience ranges over much of the theoretical & practical nexus of modern Jewish community organization: community & institutional direction & organization; concepts of Judaism as the basis of modern Jewish culture; writing & implementation of educational curricula for all ages – children, teenagers, adults; fundraising, endowment funds, and in case we forgot, he’s also nifty with information technology, multilingual and madly enthusiastic about his work in Maccabi.
